- Carson Hotshots head to Yellowstone -
The Carson Hotshots crew, based in Taos, are being reassigned to Yellowstone National Park in Montana to the Hoppe Fire.
Carson National Forest officials said Saturday that the crew has been on the Green Knoll Fire in Jackson, Wyo., since July 25. That fire, in the Bridger-Teton National
Forest, was about 90 percent contained on Aug. 2, according to a news release. This fire season the Carson Hotshots have been assigned to 13 different fires, including
Barker Wilson in Cimarron, Homestead in the Lincoln National Forest and Hobbs in the San Juan National Forest in Colorado.,

- Sumter NF - 2 men charged in forest fires -
COLUMBIA - Two Westminster men have been charged with setting
fires in the Sumter National Forest, the U.S. Agriculture Department's Forest Service said.
John D. Holbrooks, 47, and Jimmy E. Blackwell, 64, were charged with arson Friday.
The fires were set on Spy Rock and Riley Moore Ford Roads in the
national forest, the department said. Both men have been released on their own recognizance. If
convicted, each could face up to five years in prison. Charleston Post & Courier
